Long time WSB anchor, Jovita Moore, has died.
Moore was diagnosed with brain cancer and made it public in July, 2021. In a statement, Moore said, “I just want to say a quick thank you. Thank you for your cards., thank you for all the gifts and, most importantly, thank you for your prayers and your positive energy. I feel all of it. I’m home now. I’m up and about and doing everything my doctors tell me to do. So, for now I need to be here to focus on my health. I’m surrounded by family, a very small circle of friends, but also your extended love and support."
When she announced her diagnosis, Moore asked those interested in supporting her to consider making a donation to Our House Atlanta or The National brain Tumor Society.
Moore died overnight, seven months after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer. Moore joined WSB in 1998. She was 54.
Moore’s WSB colleagues remember her as a “beautiful soul,” a “pro’s pro” and “the heart & soul” of Atlanta. “She was beauty, grace, & everything you could want in a human being,” and “an even greater mom to her beautiful children,” some of her colleagues wrote. Many encouraged Atlantans to remember her family today.
