A Michigan man died after drowning with a winning lottery ticket in his wallet. Gregory Jarvis washed ashore and was found by a local resident on a private beach. Inside Jarvis' wallet was a winning ticket for "The Jack" and a payout of $45,000. The owner of a local restaurant, that Jarvis frequented, said he was ecstatic after winning the prize but couldn't accept due to the lack of a government ID. Michigan lottery rules says that you have to have a government ID to claim any prize over $600. Jarvis told the woman that he was waiting on his new social security card.
An autopsy discovered head injuries consistent with the police theory Jarvis slipped, fell and hit his head before ending up in the water, where he drowned.
