The new Commander In Chief, President Joe Biden, has chosen to remove the military flags that flanked former President Donald J. Trump during his time in office. President Joe Biden isn't the first to not have military flags in the Oval Office. Most modern presidents, but not all, have displayed only two flags behind the Resolute Desk, the American flag and the presidential seal, according to the Atlantic.
Former Presidents John F. Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson and Richard Nixon had displayed military battle flags in the office.
