A player was cut from the USFL because of a menu mix-up at a hotelDe’Veon Smith was cut by Pittsburgh Maulers head coach Kirby Wilson for violating line 46 of his players contract, which prohibits any disrespect shown to coaches, peers or hotel staff. It seems Smith had a run-in with a hotel staffer who delivered chicken salad instead of his preferred food -- pizza.

According to Smith, he asked for pizza from a hotel worker instead of the chicken salad that was being given out. The hotel worker told him he couldn’t have pizza and wondered if that would be a problem, Smith claims that he said “yes” and walked away. His coach then thought that was disrespectful and immediately fired him without hearing his side of the story.
