American Airlines first special needs flight attendant!

American Airlines has a special new flight attendant on board and she is on cloud nine after having her wish granted.

Shantell Pooser of South Carolina was officially inducted as an American Airlines flight attendant at Columbia Metropolitan Airport last weekend to celebrate her 17th birthday.

Shantell, whose nickname is Princess, has Down Syndrome and is battling a terminal illness. She frequently has to travel to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital to receive treatment and has taken approximately 57 flights with her mother.

Over the years, Shantell has grown to love flying and has taken an interest in flight attendants. So for her birthday, American Airlines sent her a uniform and invited her and her family to the airport to be introduced as their newest crew member.

Shantell's mother, Deanna Miller Berry, shared a video of her special day on Facebook.
