On The Bobby Bones Show, Eddie shared an update about the show’s cleaning lady after a group effort to support her before she returned to El Salvador.
Bobby explained that the situation began when the team believed she was seriously ill. Eddie initially suggested starting a GoFundMe, but after she visited a doctor and no clear diagnosis was found, they decided against it. When she later said she still felt unwell and planned to return to El Salvador, Eddie took the initiative to collect money from the team. Eddie went around the room asking for donations, with Bobby, Amy, and Eddie each contributing $100. He shared the additional staff members who also stepped up, including Morgan, Scuba Steve, Abby, engineer Patrick and Rick and Julie, each donating $100 as well. Eddie said the contributions quickly added up as more people in the building expressed interest in helping.
Lunchbox, however, chose not to contribute. Bobby noted that he had even given Lunchbox $100 in cash for another bit, offering him the opportunity to donate without using his own money. Lunchbox declined, explaining that he felt he couldn’t donate to every cause and believed he had to be selective with his giving. He also initially thought only a few people were contributing and didn’t realize the broader group effort was growing. Bobby pointed out that Abby donated, even after the donation drama the week prior.
Eddie confirmed that they were able to give the cleaning lady $700 in cash before her trip. He shared that she became emotional upon receiving the gift, expressing gratitude and telling Eddie, Scuba, and Rick that the team felt like family to her. She had no relatives nearby, as her son had moved to Los Angeles years earlier, and said she would miss everyone. Eddie also described the card they gave her, which featured a cat hanging from a wire with the message “hang in there.” Members of the team wrote personal notes inside, and Bobby’s name was signed by Eddie as well, even though he had already left.
