Watch This Superyacht Bust Up A Bridge Trying To Dock In St Maarten!

The 282 foot Superyacht ECSTASEA collided into the Simpson Bay Bridge in St Maarten this week causing serious damage. Video was shot at the Sint Maarten Yacht Club where people gather to watch the yacht traffic. It was reported that a combination of adverse wind and current conditions caused the superyacht to veer right and collide with the control booth. An operator in the booth jumped out before impact.

Luckily for visitors on the island the bridge continues to remain fully functional, as the controls were not damaged during the incident and opening times will not be affected”. If you've ever visited there, you know how bad traffic can already be in Simpson Bay.

Some suggested the yacht belonged to the Chelsea FC team owner, Roman Abromavich. In fact it was built for him, but not owned by Abramovich for the last 10 years. The current owner is Pakistani shipping magnate Alshair who is probably looking for a new captain!
