Sabrina Carpenter gushed that Dolly Parton looked “amazing” in a behind-the-scenes look at the duo’s “Please Please Please” music video.
Parton shared the clip on TikTok on Tuesday (February 18). Carpenter exclaimed, “you look so cute! …You look amazing,” when she saw Parton in costume on the set of the music video. “It’s the glasses,” she added later. “They just automatically make it like, you mean business.”
Parton teamed up with Carpenter on a new duet version of “Please Please Please,” which appeared on the deluxe edition of Carpenter’s Grammy winning album, Short n’ Sweet. The extended record arrived on Valentine’s Day. Parton previously shared a video of the moment the two artists met, writing in her caption at that time, “turns out, two things can be short and sweet.”
The Sean Price Williams-directed music video opens with Parton and Carpenter in a vintage truck. The visual includes a glimpse of a figure whose face is covered, but the person’s wardrobe resembles what Carpenter’s now-ex, actor Barry Keoghan, wore in the original music video. By the end of the video, Parton and Carpenter hear police sirens approaching behind them.
Carpenter said as the video premiered: “Dolly and me singing in a pickup truck!!!!!! I am so honored to have one of my biggest idols on a song that means so much to me.”
“I want Dolly in everything,” Carpenter said in the video when she met Parton. “Thank you for being you.”
