Keith Urban made an unusual comparison to Miley Cyrus’ voice.
Urban appeared on a newly-premiered episode of Fitzy and Wippa with Kate Ritchie to talk about his soon-to-release album, HIGH. During that conversation, Urban covered Cyrus’ “Flowers,” said of the Grammy winner: “I love that voice, man, that voice. She sounds like an ashtray. And I mean that as a compliment. She sounds like the carpet at the RSL!”
“This album is the result of a prior record I started in 2022,” Urban said when he announced his new album in June. “It’s 40 minutes top to bottom, and is completely expressive, true, honest and is so much more of what I actually wanted to say when making that scrapped record. I hope these songs bring you joy, levity, some new understanding, energy, and escape!
“When I’m writing a song, or when I’m in the studio recording it, or even when its coming to life on the stage, it’s the same feeling of being ‘in the flow.’ It’s timeless, it’s weightless – and I feel euphoric – I feel HIGH,” he added in a statement previously shared via his record label. “What makes you ‘high’ can mean whatever you want it to mean. It might be physical, spiritual, herbal, meditative, chemical or musical, but it’s definitely a place of utopia.”
So far, Urban has released “Straight Line,” “Messed Up As Me,” “Go Home W U” featuring Lainey Wilson, “Wildside” and “Heart Like A Hometown” from the upcoming 12-track album.
