Morgan Wallen’s ex-fiancée, who is also the mother of his child, spoke out after his recent arrest for allegedly throwing a chair from a six-story rooftop bar on Lower Broadway in Downtown Nashville, Tennessee.
KT Smith denied that Wallen’s actions happened in connection with her recent marriage to fiancé Luke Scornavacco, days after the couple announced their engagement. Smith captioned a series of photos on Instagram, “swipe for a surprise 🤎🌼,” leading to a selfie with Scornavacco holding up their marriage certificate. Smith and Scornavacco announced their engagement on March 29. They eloped on April 3, and on Sunday night (April 7), Wallen was arrested for allegedly throwing a chair off the roof of Eric Church’s newly-opened bar, nearly hitting two Metro Nashville Police Department officers on the sidewalk below. He now faces felony charges.
“Although it may seem like it correlates because of the timeline, I have no evidence to believe the incident had anything to do with the recent marriage announcement,” Smith said in a statement when The Daily Beast reached her on Monday (April 8). “I cannot speak on Morgan’s behalf, but I do pray the very best for him. Praying that this was just a slip up and that he will return to the good path that he was on prior.”
Smith and Wallen quickly got engaged after they began dating in 2016. They eventually broke off the engagement and continued to date on and off for a few years before calling it quits. They share son Indigo Wilder, who was born in 2020. At that time, Wallen said in a lengthy Instagram caption, in part, that he was a “changed man” after welcoming his son. “I’m ready for whatever God has planned for me and my little guy. He’s healthy and happy and while I’m typing this I’m getting in the truck to go hold him right now.”
Wallen, 30, allegedly threw a chair from Church’s bar, Chief’s, shortly before 11 p.m. on Sunday night. The chair reportedly fell approximately three feet away from two Metro Nashville Police Department officers who were standing in front of the bar. Bar staff and other witnesses told police they observed the country artist “lunging and throwing an object over the roof,” and saw him “pick up the chair, throw it over him, laughing afterward.” Police also reviewed security camera footage — TMZ obtained and shared one camera angle on Monday — following the incident. Wallen was released hours after he was booked into the jail. He “is cooperating fully with authorities,” per his attorney. Wallen is accused of reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct in connection with the incident. The Davidson County Criminal Court shows he will appear in court on May 3.
