A Decatur restaurant is being credited for being the best hole-in-the-wall spot in Alabama.
Love Food compiled a nationwide list ranking the best hole-in-a-wall sports in every state, which included Big Bob Gibson Bar-B-Que as the top choice for the Yellowhammer State.
"Robert ‘Big Bob’ Gibson started out in 1925 with a hand-dug BBQ pit and a makeshift table in his backyard," Love Food wrote. "His slow and low wood-smoked chicken and pork proved so popular that he opened a restaurant, drawing lines around the block. There are now two locations in Decatur and they’re legendary thanks to the excellent food and warm welcome. Big Bob is also credited with inventing the BBQ white sauce, blending mayonnaise, vinegar and pepper."
