Country music has always had strong ties to our armed forces but did you know that some of the biggest names actually served?

Kris Kristofferson

Kristofferson attended West Point, as a pilot and almost, became a professor. He left West Point and his plans of the service for Nashville.

George Jones

Jones was never deployed. He spent his entire career in California, with the Marines, starting in 1951.

Johnny Cash

Cash was in the Air Force and was hard at work when the news came down that Joseph Stalin had died. Cash spent most of his enlistment in Germany.
