Incredible Footage Shows Whale Retrieve Phone Woman Dropped In The Ocean

Earlier this month, fishermen in Norway spotted a beluga whale with a harness on it. The harness reportedly had a GoPro camera on it labeled "Equipment of St. Petersburg," causing many to suspect the animal is part of a Russian spy program. Plenty of people read about it and some wanted to venture out and see if they too could spot the whale. Ina Mansika was one of them. Living in the area, she and her friends headed to a dock near where the fishermen witnessed the beluga. Ina and her pals actually wound up getting a glimpse of the sea creature and were leaning over trying to touch it when Ina's phone dropped out of her pocket.

She told The Dodo: "We laid down on the dock to look at it and hopefully get a chance to pat it. I had forgotten to close my jacket pocket and my phone fell in the ocean." What happened next left everyone shocked and thankfully, it was all caught on camera. According to Ina, "We assumed it would be gone forever, until the whale dove back down and came back a few moments later with my phone in its mouth."

Her friend Isa posted the footage to Instagram with the caption, "When animals are kinder than humans 💖🐳#beluga #whale"

Ina described how she felt when it happened, saying, "Everyone was so surprised. We almost didn't believe what we saw. I was supper happy and thankful that I got my phone back."

There's no confirmation on if the beluga is the same one that the fishermen found in a harness, who has been nicknamed "Whaledimir" after Russian president Vladimir Putin.

Also, there's no word on the condition of Ina's phone after its dip in the ocean.
