Grand Bay Alabama's Rod Stokes on team Blake

Rod Stokes, a Grand Bay resident sang his way to a spot on the Voice turning three chairs. It was life changing emotional experience for 34-year-old Rod Stokes.

He sang his heart out earning him on a spot on Blake Shelton’s team.

"I was just blown away to know Adam Levine turned- a Grammy winner. Next thing you know, John Legend, a 10 Grammy, Emmy Tony and Oscar winner. After that, Blake Shelton turned and I was just blown away. I was just captivated. You could probably see the look on my face I was in shock. I was like wow this is incredible. I am just a small town country boy, and to be able to experience this is magical," says Stokes.

His family was behind him every step of the way.

"I was like I just want at least one chair to turn for him and to get three chairs was so overwhelming. It was. We are all so happy for him," says his mother Lisa Stokes.

The road to the Voice wasn’t easy. Before music, Stokes played college football until he received the phone call his dad was too sick to work.

“He was out of work for almost four months, so I made the decision to come back home and take over our family business. It’s like the Lord had a different plan for me. He redirected my path,” says Stokes.
