Only women will be honored at CMT Artist's of the Year this year

This year's "CMT Artists of the Year" special is going to be all female.  As in, every honoree will be a woman. We're talking Miranda Lambert, Maren Morris, Carrie Underwood, Kelsea Ballerini . . . plus Little Big Town's Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman . . . and Lady Antebellum's Hillary Scott.

Is this their way of recognizing the #MeToo movement?  Of course.  And maybe the lack of female Entertainer of the Year nominees at the CMAs and ACMs.

Maren Morris Tweeted, "Thank you for narrowing the gap in this industry.  Proud to be honored among friends this night." Kelsea Ballerini said, "Goodness, I love you CMT."  Hillary Scott wrote, "This puts a smile on my face like no other."

And Little Big Town gave a shout-out.  Quote, "Couldn't be any prouder to stand alongside these inspiring women.  Thank you CMT."  No word yet on the list of performers.  The show will air October 17th.
