If you ever go drinking with JAKE OWEN, be prepared to hear some brutal honesty. That's what he dished out toPHIL MICKELSONwhen he saw him atJordan Spieth'swedding last fall.
It happened to be the day after Mickelson and Tiger Woods had that $9 million golf showdown. Jake thought the whole thing was a rip-off, and a little liquid courage was all the excuse he needed to walk over and tell him.
Quote, "I was like, 'Hey Phil, you owe me [effing] $29.99 for wasting four hours of my life with the [crappiest] golf I've ever seen. You guys hyped this thing up about this big match, you guys couldn't even make three birdies between the two of you.'"
He wanted an apology and a refund . . . but he got something way better. Quote, "So he pulls out a wad and grabs a hundred dollar bill and he's like, 'Yeah, I won 90,000 of these yesterday. Take a hundred and go [eff] yourself.'"
The interview was on Barstool's "ForePlay" podcast . . . and when they Tweeted out the clip, Phil Mickelson replied with "True story." (WARNING: The video has tons of UNCENSORED profanity.)
