Dollar Bill and Madison Morning Show of the Year

Dollar Bill and Madison Morning Show of the Year

102.5 The Bull’s Morning Team, Dollar Bill and Madison, deserve to be named Radio Morning Show of the Year because of their outstanding commitment to the community.  In 2017, the team was highly involved in Birmingham: being a part of over 25 charity/civic groups, raising over $257,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and helping provide Christmas help for over 10,000 under privileged Birmingham area families in partnership with the Salvation Army Angel Tree program.  The duo also produced and voiced PSA’s for local charities in Birmingham.

Dollar Bill and Madison strive to provide unrivaled show content.  In 2017, the team provided exclusive Country Music Awards coverage, interviewed country music stars like Luke Bryan, Garth Brooks, Eric Church and Florida Georgia Line, all while playing the country hits that listeners have come to expect.

Dollar Bill and Madison view helping local charities as an important and critical function of their commitment to Birmingham as broadcasters.  Often ignored in the media, the show puts these organizations center stage by offering to emcee events and talking about their involvement on the morning show to bring more coverage to them.  In 2017, Dollar Bill alone emceed, or was a part of, all of the following types of events:   banquets, pageants, charity walks/runs, fundraisers, charity lunches, auctions, and parades.  Our morning show team maintains a strong community connection, and our most visible event of the year is the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Radiothon.

Over the years, our morning team has helped to raise over 2 million dollars for St. Jude.  This year’s effort, helped add $257,000 to that total.  During the Radiothon we repurpose our station raise money for St. Jude and educate our audience about the great work that is being provided by the Hospital.  We invite patients, staff members, and doctors to join the morning show to help tell the story through on-air interviews.

102.5 The Bull also serves the community by airing 12 public service announcements a day between 6am and 7pm. Dollar Bill voiced a PSA for Shelby Emergency Assistance, and Madison created one for the King’s Ranch.  In 2017 they created many PSA’s, and the community has shown their appreciation.

Dollar Bill and Madison also helped out with the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program.  The morning show challenged their listeners to visit an Angel Tree at Brookwood Village in Birmingham where they could find wish list items to shop for underprivileged children.   The morning show also volunteered for Angel Tree Reveal Day- the day that all of the gifts are brought to the warehouse and sorted and organized for the families. In all, over 10,000 families were helped because of the effort.

Dollar Bill and Madison also take every opportunity to instill positivity into the community.  One of the highlights of 2017, included their daily segment called “What’s Awesome”. This segment highlights positive things in the news and in listener’s lives.  The bit features some funny and heartwarming news stories, and then listeners have the opportunity to call in with their “What’s Awesome” stories.

Dollar Bill and Madison strive to keep their listeners informed with the ever changing trends of pop culture with their segment “What’s Trending”.  This bit highlights the day’s trending news that provides listeners with up to date information that’s sure to spark water cooler conversations in offices all over Birmingham. This also gives listeners a platform to call in and discuss life’s most pressing topics.

Nashville is a three hour drive up I-65, but with Dollar Bill and Madison’s “Music City Minute” our listeners can feel like they’re on Music Row. The “Music City Minute” features news, gossip, and stories about country music’s biggest stars.

Dollar Bill and Madison give listeners a front row seat for one of Nashville’s biggest nights, the CMA’s. They  dedicate at least three whole days to bringing their listeners the best exclusive interviews and celebrity experiences with top performers in the format. They connect their listeners with some truly legendary country music artists.  Garth Brooks talked with the show in 2017 live during CMA week, providing one of the most memorable interviews to date.

To celebrate the highly anticipated return of UAB Blazer football, Dollar Bill and Madison broadcasted live all day from the free pep rally and concert with country superstar and former UAB quarterback, Sam Hunt. 25,000 people packed into Birmingham’s Uptown District to celebrate UAB’s first game of the season. Sam Hunt, Maren Morris, Ryan Follese, the UAB marching band, and spirit squads put on a show that attendees are still talking about to this day!

2017 was a fun and exciting year for the Dollar Bill and Madison morning show.  They were able to make a sizeable difference in our community by raising money and donations for charity with their St. Jude efforts.  They emceed over 25 events, ranging from big to small, in the hope of being more closely connected to the community.  They landed major celebrity interviews, and had “off the wall” fun with their listeners.  It was a banner year for the morning show, and we feel that their cumulative body of work in 2017 should make them your “Radio Morning Show of the Year”.
