More information in a shooting of a suspected car thief by Jefferson County sheriff's deputies. Authorities say a deputy tried to stop the 33 year old suspect when he spotted the stolen vehicle but was led on a brief chase into a neighborhood where the suspect stopped. Deputies issued verbal commands for the man to exit the car, but he tried to speed away again. He drove right toward a deputy who says he fired a shot to stop the suspect, and to keep from being hit. The chase ended when Adamsville officers spotted the suspect near Scenic Drive. The man had a bullet wound to the knee and taken to the hospital for his non life-threatening injury. The unnamed suspect faces several charges. He is wanted for questioning in other car thefts. Authorities say he has a criminal history that spans 11 years.
